Day 7- Amsterdam

Day 7

Well, I am sorry to say that we arrived back to our hotel to find that our camera was missing. :-( We are so disappointed. Tomorrow we will find out for sure whether or not it was lost on the train, but we are positive that someone pick-pocketed it. Because I was so tired last night, I didn't upload the pictures from Waterloo and I hadn't uploaded today's pictures.
The good news is that my in laws took pictures yesterday and today and nothing else was taken or lost such as wallets, passports, money, etc.... I feel thankful despite the circumstances. Even though we may not have as many pictures with us in them, we still have the memories and we are safe! Also, if I hadn't been doing the blog, I wouldn't have uploaded the other pictures to the computer! I have 5 days worth of pictures completely safe and sound on our computer. Praise the Lord! :-)

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to put up any pictures that we take for the rest of the trip, because none of my in-laws brought their camera cords. I am going to try and find some from the internet so that you know what I am talking about. I know that it isn't as interesting to read without the real pictures, but it is the best I can do! :-( My main reason for writing it all down is so I remember what we did.

We woke up this morning and got on the speed train that took about 2 hours to get to Amsterdam. It was nice because we were able to sleep most of the time. When we arrived, we decided to take the Rick Steves walking tour of the city.
Our first stop was the Palace at the city square. Today was the first day that it was open.
Then we visited the church that first started the protestant reformation and where the royal family of Holland has their weddings at.
Then we made our way down to the hidden catholic church among many stores and buildings.
After that we visited the English reformed church where the Pilgrims took asylum before they decided to leave to go on the Mayflower to America. (I want to cry because I can't put these pictures up.)
On our walk we saw many shops and cafes and visited the flower market with many beautiful flowers.

We then moved forward to a big park that has the words "I am Amsterdam."
We finally arrived at the Van Gogh museum where we got to see over 200 of his paintings including some of his most famous pieces. It was amazing!
That was the end of our walking tour.
We started to head back to where we came from. On the way, the boys tried some local fish. We hit up some stores for some more gifts for people.
We ended our day with a boat ride in the canals in the city. We walked back to the train station and got some gyros for the ride back.

Pray that we get our camera back! :-)
